My Philips X1, one of the best digital transports on the planet? Certainly unbeatable at a cost of 80UKP with a half decent DAC thrown in! The last picture shows the sliding slid modification carried out in April 2006.
Here you can see the laser transport moved to the centre of the case with the AF board repositioned accordinly.
Due to the low clearance of the tranport PCB, the 4700 ufd PSU capacitors have had to be installed horizontally.
The underside of the transport PCB, easily accessed for modification. You can also see the spike that it rests on at the front and the two wooden lugs that locate in the pipe insulation supports at the rear.
A clear view of the persex platform that houses the laser transport mechanism showing the foam pipe insulation supporting it at the rear. You can just see one of the wooden locating lugs through the perspex.
